How to make the perfect tweet

http://www.theguardian.com/small-business-network/2015/sep/23/how-to-write-the-perfect-tweet

Twitter

This story is about how to make the perfect tweet. They are saying that as we need to stick to the 140 character limit that instead of using that to make a story use it as a statement and write things that actually matter. Having things that matter will make it more interesting and people can find it easier. When we use a hashtag we should use it properly like using it to go with what we are saying in our tweet so that it matches and flows. Some people don't do that and as it comes out in a mess. Also, we should add an image as it makes it more interesting what we will be tweeting.

  • It has been proven that posts with images have an 18% higher click-through rate than those without.
  • The most common objectives of using Twitter are to draw engagement to third-party content or grow a community.
  • It’s recommended that businesses tweet 14 times a day with gaps of one or two hours.

I think by writing an article about this is a good thing as it makes people who use twitter think about what they write and say. Having too much to say and waffling on can be a problem for some people as they are in a mood or think that people care when unfortunately many people don't.

Emojis and quizzes led the way at Social Media Week 2015

James Whatley on stage at Social Media Week 2015

There has been many things that have changed about social media week over the past couple years. They have always tried to make it intreseting and fun at the same time. They all wanted to make sure that the media weeks were always different to one another and make it unique every time. Social media week hasnt  been boring for a while now and thats because they have been including many things. For example, content in the new banner, equality on agenda, quizzes rule the internet, online video is here to stay and emojis. They hav ebeen including these things one way or another.

  • Social Media Week has come under fire though from many sources, with articles written (and once an entire Tumblr page set up) for the sole purpose of mocking the insights from those in attendance.
  • This year, it seems that Social Media Week is growing up with it: it was better organised, had more control over the overall output and, as a result, had far better content.

I think that its good that they are making the social media more fun and intresting as it keeps the audience entertained and made sure that they learn and listenm and also have fun in what they are talking about. Before the audience would have been bored or not intrested in what they had to say but now they have been developing to talk about better things and they are being more interactive with the audience also they are using different approaches which makes it better.

Newsflush! Digital video’s bog-standard content

http://www.theguardian.com/global/mediamonkeyblog/2015/sep/17/newsflush-digital-videos-bog-standard-content

iPad attached to a toilet

BBC4s channel had said that people are going on their phone, tablet etc whilst being on the toilet.this was set up and done in cambridge. They wanted to see how many people go on their phones whilst going to the toilet. Its unhygenic but loads of people do it.

  • said its fastest growing screen was also the oldest one – the TV – thanks to viewing via games consoles, smart TVs and the like, with 40% of viewing now to long form (more than 22 minutes) content.
  • This wouldnt have been done whilst being in the bathroom
  • 10% are said to be doing this at home or whilst somewhere else
I do think this is something that alot of people do even if they deny it. This is unhygenic and can cause germs to spread. This shows that some people cant live without their digital media as they are always on it even in the toilet. This isnt good as people can become addicted and be more antisocial as they would think that its acceptable to not talk and just text or something.

BBC to launch new streaming service in America

The logo for the Broadcasting House, the headquarters of the BBC is displayed outside on July 25, 2015 in London, England

BBC are ttrying to launch a new streaming service in America. This is to raise more moeny from commercial sources abroad. Its to be believed that that BBC will have an advantage when consumers are not paying T.V  subscriptions in favour of good and well-known providers like Netflix and amazon. The BBC is aiming to increase its revenues.

  •  15pc to £1.2bn by 2020. Lord Hall has said cost cuts of 20pc will be required over the next five years.
  • They are looking into creating its own skinny bundle via the apple box.
I think that this is a good thing as it help us keep in touch with the US and see whats going on. Having live streaming can help us connect and understand whats going on and they can do the same.

Google article

1) Why has Google led to the decline of the newspaper industry?

Google decided to decline the newspaper industry because there has been alot of money that has been missing from the newspaper company for a long time. The amount that was missing was around $40 billion. The newspapers would have been around $60 billion by now if the growth had continued in the past decade.

2) Do you personally think Google is to blame for newspapers closing and journalists losing their jobs? Why?

I think that google are too blame for the loss of newspapers jobs. This is because most people prefer to use a search engine to look at newspaper articles and see whats going on in the newspaper industry. Having all of this would make the business run out as everyone uses the internet and have apps on their phone to check these things. The old way would have been getting the newspaper everyday or every sunday.

 3) Read the comments below the article. Pick one comment you agree with and one you disagree with and justify your opinions in detail.

I agree with "Well, if the Google duo aren’t smart enough to invest in content, they’re going to be joining the buggy-whip makers in the dustbin of history. A temporary anomaly has given great wealth to the people who invented the digital equivalent of the printing press and the library card catalogue. The actual value being exploited resides in the underlying information that the Internet “prints” and Google indexes; Google does not actually own any of that information. Regardless of how nimble Google leaders are, they cannot indefinitely continue to control and reap the vast majority of the profit from assets they do not own; the owners will eventually assert themselves. And this is the real way to view what Bezos and Omidyar are up to: They know — know in their hearts — that content will again be king, and not long in the future. They want to figure out the *way* content becomes king again, before anyone else. Because that’s where the money will be" This tells me that google will find a way of being top again due to what has happend and thats true as Google is world known and popular search engine and works really well and without it, it would be bad for them and for people wo use it.

I disagree with "The vast majority of Google’s revenue comes from searches with commercial intent I.e. “cheapest coffeemaker” or “Miami hotels”. They dont earn very much from news related searches like “benghazi interviews”. I would argue they make their money on the backs of commercial enterprise, not journalists. Sergey and Larry owe the news industry nothing" . This tells me that google owners arent to blame for this evernthough i think they are. They say that they dont owe the newspaper anything but i think they do as they are the ones that are letting and giving access to people to use the internet to search for newspaper etc.
