Article summary
The BBC trust want to takeaway the BBC 3 channel. This is because they want to make it into an online programme instead of making it on something you can watch on T.V. This will save money as they will save around £30 million if this programme goes on the internet. This has been upsetting a lot of people as some people only watch T.V, they may not have time to go on the internet etc. They wanted to make this a long term progress. But they are scared that they will lose there major targets and their demographic groups. They did want to launch a BBC+1 channel but that didn't go through. They have thought about mainly the BBC 3 go online and on T.V. This is so that their audience can catch up on what they want. They already know that they could lose a lot of customers and demographics would less likely tune in than what they already do. the BBC have explored a lot of these different things and still haven't really come to a conclusion. BBC wanted to compete with the other famous TV industries with their +1. For example, ITV, Channel 4 etc. If they did use a BBC +1 then there will be some problems as they need to keep certain programmes within the watershed and that cant happen if its getting shown later. Taking away the BBC3 will have a short impact as a lot of the audience don't use it as much as the main BBC programmes. A lot of famous shows do get shown on BBC 3 like a repeat of Eastenders, don't tell the bride, family guy, bad education etc. These are shows that are watched by teens and a few adults.
BBC have said that they are willing to cut people off their jobs as it wants to become more simpler and learner. This is because when it was hitting £150 million loss they went under pressure and wanted to cut a lot of people off. Tony Hall the director general was expected to tell people on Thursday and warn people that they will no longer be working here. They need to include this with senior and middle managers. While the BBC are trying to protect its remaining television and radio stations its expected that around 18,000 will be cut from the company. They have always said that they need everyone on the team and it will be a difficult decision to make. Since becoming a director two yrs ago they have tried to draw up plans to save the company from getting done. They are finding ways to save money and make sure that they can try and keep as many people as they can. As they are doing a license fee they are afraid that that costs will catch up with them. Hall gave a speech about that licence fee should be modernised to include catch-up t.v.

Somebody's watching you
I found out that this is about how people keep their lives private on social networking sites and make sure that they use protection to keep their things private on social media. They mentioned a scene that was true and said that in America that there was school that gave out computers with a webcam and teachers were watching and listening on conversations and seeing what they were doing. When hearing a story like this people need to make sure that they are aware of these issues and make sure that they can prevent it from happening to them somehow. Also, on Facebook you can change settings to your profile to see what you keep private and not keep private. They said that the way people talk to friends and family are different to each other as they need to form those privacy boundaries from each other.
In my opinion I think that its better if you have these private settings and keep most of your private life private. This is because then people wont get involved in your business and people wont see what you are doing. They are right to say that we keep our friends and family life separate to each other as we do as its something to say that we don't say certain things and do certain things around them. Having a private is important and having some privacy as its something that people would want to keep to themselves and make sure that's its only for certain people.

The internet revolution
The nature of information-
Communication- Now that internet is in much more use, people have been lacking communication amongst themselves.This is because we become more dependant on the internet and use our phones, email, texting to communicate with friends and family. In some way this is bad as using too much of the internet isn't good and we have to talk to people face-to-face as using the internet to communicate is too lazy.
Privacy-Its important to have some sort of privacy as the things we want to keep private we don't want people to know about it. Some people do show or tell people a lot of private things but some people don't want to do that. On nearly every website and app and account they let you make certain things private and they tell you what's going to be private. This is good as it makes the audience feel more protected.
Community- The community that we live in and is around us can see and hear what's going on. Having a community can depend on how we see certain things or how want to hear it. For example, if a robbery was going on in a house and they stole a T.V some people would say they robbed that house for everything they had, some would say they didn't take anything etc. When hearing certain things we decide what we want to believe.
Online safety-Its very important for people to be safe online as there are many things that can happen and change people lives. People should be aware of grooming, paedophiles, money, cyber bullying etc. There are many things that can happen over online and its important for people to be aware so that they know what to do and how to avoid bad situations like this.
Business-Some people like to keep their business to themselves and not let anyone know about it. This way they can carry on with what they are doing and not let anyone interfere and get control of what they wanted to do.
